Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Imani Brown—a screenwriter, short fiction writer, and educator. Whether I’m crafting a quiet moment between characters or building worlds shaped by culture, history, and resistance, I’m drawn to stories that make us linger, question, and feel.
With a Master’s in Literatures of Modernity and a BA in English Literature with a Minor in Law, my creative work often explores Afro-Caribbean spirituality, queer and Caribbean identities, and intergenerational memory. My short films and stories are rooted in the everyday magic of Black life—especially when set against systems trying to erase it.
When I’m not writing, I’m teaching English courses or collaborating on community-centered projects. I currently live in Florida, but my dreams stretch all the way to a writers' room in California.
Welcome to my corner of the internet. I hope you stay a while.
